'He will remain supportive of PKR,' says Fahmi on rumours of Sivarasa's removal

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil hinted that there is a grain of truth behind reports of a change in Selangor PKR leadership.

This comes after media reported that former Sungai Buloh member of parliament (MP) R. Sivarasa has been removed as Selangor PKR vice-chairman.

Without denying or confirming the report, Fahmi said Sivarasa, who is serving as an ex-officio member in the state committee, will remain supportive and committed to the party.

"I read the (media) report briefly and he (Sivarasa) is an ex-officio member in Selangor. He is also a very old friend and he is a team player who has always been supportive of the party, regardless of what post he held.

"I have no fear (in the change of top leadership) as he is a good man, lawyer and a firm believer in the party cause.

"(And) I do not see any issue there as he is still in the party as an ex-officio member," he said when met by reporters after the launch of Pos Malaysia Bhd's special edition 'Palestine Merdeka' stamp, today.

Fahmi said this when asked to comment on rumours of a shake-up in PKR Selangor's top leadership following Sivarasa's removal as the state vice-chairman.

Earlier, Free Malaysia Today (FMT) reported that Sivarasa had been removed as Selangor PKR vice-chairman and was serving only as an ex-officio member of the state committee.

He was replaced by Sentosa assemblyman Gunaraj George.

The former three-term Sungai Buloh MP, however, still helm the party's legal bureau position and Sungai Buloh division.
