KKB by-election: PN Youth calls for young voters to embrace 'momentum for change'

KUALA KUBU BARU: Perikatan Nasional Youth has called on young voters in the Kuala Kubu Baharu constituency to embrace what it calls a growing momentum for change by supporting the coalition's candidate.

Its election machinery director, Muhammad Hilman Idham, said this would ensure that the voices of the people of the constituency will again be represented in the Selangor assembly.

"We are confident that the demands of the people, particularly the pulse of the young generation, can only be felt by local candidates who understand local issues and needs," he told reporters.

Hilman, who is Gombak Setia assemblyman, claimed the economic and infrastructure issues in the constituency were caused by the failure of the state government and representatives who were not concerned with the needs and desires of the local community.

"The escalating cost of living severely impacts the citizens, including the younger generation, and affects daily life.

"The never-ending efforts to upgrade the market here after more than four years have caused many young traders to experience a downturn in income," he said.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, scheduled for May 11, will witness a four-cornered contest.

In the running are PN's Khairul Azhari Saut, Pakatan Harapan's Pang Sock Tao, Hafizah Zainudin of Parti Rakyat Malaysia and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

The by-election was triggered by the death of three-term assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong.
