KKB by-election: Almost 56 per cent voter turnout as of 4pm

KUALA KUBU BAHARU: A total of 55.79 per cent of total ordinary eligible voters have voted as of 4pm, with one more hour left before polling closes here.

The EC previously said 39,362 ordinary voters are eligible to vote in the by-election, which is triggered by the death of three-term incumbent, DAP's Lee Kee Hiong.

Earlier today, the EC lowered its turnout target from 75 per cent to 60 per cent.

Its deputy chairman Professor Azmi Sharom said the new target is 'more realistic' considering the outcome of the state election in Selangor in August last year.

The by-election sees a four-cornered fight between Pang Sock Tao (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainuddin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia) and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent).
