The news of Jason Gerald John’s demise came as a shock to many of us, me included. I knew he was ill. I was in the midst of arranging some assistance for him when Saiful passed me the sad news early on Friday.
This soft-spoken former journalist was a man of few words, and one who did not impose his authority on those below him. He was with me at this newspaper’s headquarters in Balai Berita before doing his tour of duty outstation.
Each of us has fond memories of Jason. From what I gathered, Jason the family man was a doting father and husband. I’m saddened by his death. The good die young, everyone says. Jason was certainly one of them.
Harimau mati meinggalkan belang; manusia mati meninggalkan nama. Jason Gerald was one of them. RIP, JG.
