MORE and more people, especially the younger generation, prefer to get information via social media or independent news portals.
The unregulated e-environment leads to an increase in unverified news, which has an adverse effect on national harmony and security.
It is time we make full use of the sebenarnya.my portal, recently launched by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission as a one-stop centre for the public to verify the authenticity of the news they receive.
It’s easy to use. If you receive a piece of news and you are unsure of its authenticity, check on the portal first.
I urge MCMC to promote this portal.
In the era of post-truth, it is good to be vigilant online. If you are not sure, do not share.
