A waste if ministers don't tap Dr M's experience

ALMOST a year since May 9 last year, the nation has witnessed momentous events.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s cabinet members and their deputies ought to learn fast about their portfolios, rise to the occasion and discharge their responsibilities wisely.

To continue citing inexperience may not go down well with the people who elected them.

Dr Mahathir may not remain as prime minister for long before passing the baton to PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as agreed.

Despite the baton change, I am sure Dr Mahathir will be around to lend a helping hand, but his wisdom and advice can be better adhered to or received when he is in the driver’s seat and where he commands respect.

Therefore, it is foolish for Dr Mahathir’s cabinet members if they fail to tap his wisdom when most of them are inexperienced.

They should seek his guidance when they handle contentious issues as a mistake would not be taken lightly by the public and would be capitalised on by the opposition.

They can depend on his advice without having to face criticism by the public if an unwise or decision is made.

The nation expects and looks forward to a resounding and booming economy, to stretch the ringgit for better buying power.

The nation also hopes the government will do a great job governing the nation, including taking care of the nation’s coffers, spending prudently and keeping corruption at bay.

We look forward to a better nation.

We ask Putrajaya to take the lead in that direction.
