Skills programme for Socso members

LETTERS: The Institute of Business Excellence, Universiti Teknologi Mara (IBE UiTM), through collaborations with their strategic partners, is offering a pathway to Social Security Organisation (Socso) or Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (Perkeso) members, whose careers are severely affected by the on-going Covid-19 pandemic and PKP lockdowns.

With a membership of over seven million workers and 400,000 active employers, this initiative is aimed at Socso members who have been retrenched due to the current pandemic either through downsizing of operational staff and companies forced to fold in, and for employers who wish to improve current workforce's ability to be relevant to the current employment market needs through upskilling and reskilling initiatives.

The programmes offered are carefully designed to work in tandem with Socso's own Employee Insurance Scheme (EIS) or Skim Insurans Pekerja and the Progam Penjana Kerjaya initiatives. Members with a minimum of one month's Socso deductions are deemed eligible and are encouraged to apply for the programme.

Selected eligible members are required to attend a free five-day training programme with training allowances provided by Socso. Upon completing the five day programme, participants will be advised on the next steps to fulfilling the aim of the programme.

IBE UiTM are aiming to ease the burden of fellow Malaysians who are struggling to make ends meet by offering a means to improve the employability of Socso members in these trying and challenging times.

Members and employers who are interested in participating in this endeavour are advised to contact directly via telephone (016-2206114) or email (jaaf@uitm.edu.my).

Further information on the programme can also be found on the IBE UiTM's website.
