Worldwide Holdings will create solar energy projects to power homes and buildings in Selangor

A consortium led by Worldwide Holdings Bhd, a subsidiary of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor (PKNS) will construct an independent power plant project for RM100 million in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

The project will use a floating solar farm on Cyberjaya Lake to produce electricity for buildings and houses.

The consortium also includes oil and gas player Dynac Sdn Bhd and Majulia Sdn Bhd.

Worldwide signed four memoranda of understanding (MoU) yesterday, including two that are connected to the Cyberjaya project.

The company's group chief executive officer Datin Paduka Norazlina Zakaria signed the MoU on behalf of the consortium signatories from Cyberview Sdn Bhd, Cyberjaya's main technology hub developer.

Another MoU was with the signatories from the project's off-taker, namely Cyberview, Wistron Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd, Global Energy Storage Malaysia, and PKNS Real Estate Sdn Bhd.

Separately, Worldwide inked an MoU with PKNS Real Estate to create solar energy investments for private use, as well as one with the management body of Laman Seri Business Park about net energy metering (NEM) including solar energy and a roof leasing arrangement.

The Cyberjaya project is scheduled to be in operation in the middle of 2025, according to Worldwide.

The generated energy will be provided to off-takers, which are private businesses committed to renewable energy.
