KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttler Goh Jin Wei's first ever Grand Prix Gold title bid was dashed when the World No 44 lost in the final of the Taiwan Open on Sunday.
The third seed Malaysian fell to her third career defeat to unseeded Saena Kawakami, losing 21-17, 21-17 to the World No 59 in 39 minutes.
Despite the defeat, it was Jin Wei's best performance in a tournament this season.
The 17-year-old has been selected to represent Malaysia in the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games on Aug 19-30.
