KUALA LUMPUR: National men's doubles coach Rosman Razak admitted that his former colleague Jeremy Gan's resignation came as a surprise to the department.
Rosman, who began working alongside Jeremy when Indonesian Rexy Mainaky was the doubles chief coach (2005), said: "His resignation comes as a huge surprise to us.
"Jeremy and I go a long way back. In fact, he was my junior during our playing days.
"We were together just a day before he tendered his resignation, but none of us knew about it.
"I haven't (seen him since), but I'm sure he has a solid reason to leave."
It is learnt that Jeremy, who is best known for guiding Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, had received a better offer from a foreign country.
On his fondest memory of Jeremy, Rosman said: "Every coach has got their own unique style.
"When it comes to Jeremy, I think the silver medal at the Rio Games spoke volumes of his capability."
In the absence of Jeremy, who is only expected to leave at the end of the year (three-month notice), the men's doubles department will be under the care of head coach Cheah Soon Kit and Rosman.
