Vivian ready to shine with Mei Kuan

KUALA LUMPUR: National women's doubles shuttler Vivian Hoo has no issues pairing up with Chow Mei Kuan as both shuttlers are without their regular partners, who are sidelined with injuries.

Vivian said her combination with Mei Kuan has improved and they are training hard to peak at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games next month.

"Our first test is the Vietnam International Challenge this week. It will be the best platform for us to test our partnership before the Commonwealth Games," said Vivian.

It has been three weeks since Vivian-Mei Kuan started training together.

However, they will not be permanent as national women's doubles coach Rosman Razak’s only plans to use them until the Commonwealth Games.

Mei Kuan’s permanent partner Lee Meng Yean suffered a knee injury prior to the Asia Team Championships in Alor Setar last month.

Vivian's partner, Woon Khe Wei suffered the same fate, forcing the duo to retire against Vietnam at the same tournament.

"I have got no issues training under Rosman as he was coaching us before. It is not something new, and we understand each other really well," added Vivian.

Vivian-Mei Kuan, the fifth seeds, open against Taiwan's Lee Wei Tzu-Tai Wei Ling on Wednesday.

Compatriots Lim Chiew Sien-Teoh Mei Xing will play Taiwanese pair Kuo Yu Wen-Lin Wan Ching.
