Eei Hui looks forward to new combinations

KUALA LUMPUR: National mixed doubles head coach, Chin Eei Hui wants her new trainees to work on their doubles chemistry, as they begin their challenge at the Finnish Open tomorrow.

According to Eei Hui, the new combinations of Hoo Pang Ron-Cheah Yee See and Chen Tang Jie-Peck Yen Wei, look promising, and as a result, were sent to compete in Europe.

"These pairs are supposed to work on their partnership. Let’s allow them to have some time to do so," said Eei Hui today.

From January to March, Eei Hui did not assign a regular partner for the four players, as she was still testing them.

"It wasn't until mid March, when I decided to partner Tang Jie with Yen Wei and Pang Ron with Yee See,” she said.

Pang Ron-Yee See will have to work extra hard, as they begin their campaign in the qualifying rounds, taking on local pair Juha Honkanen-Jannica Monnberg.

Tang Jie-Yen Wei, on the other hand, will only take to the court on Friday. The Malaysians play Russia's Vladimir Nikulov-Anastasiia Semenova in the first round.

Also seeing action on Thursday in the qualifying rounds are Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Soong Fie Cho, Goh Sze Fei-Goh Yea Ching and Shia Chun Kang-Tee Jing Yi.
