Chee Tean will be laid to rest on Friday

KUALA LUMPUR: Former national shuttler Tan Chee Tean who tragically passed away in a road accident in the Czech Republic on September 28th will be laid to rest this Friday.

Kedah BA (KBA) president Datuk Teoh Teng Chor said that the 24-year-old player’s remains will be laid to rest at the Nian En Memorial Park in Mukim Jabi, Pokok Sena, Kedah.

“Chee Tean’s remains arrived back home in Malaysia on October 14 (Sunday). To those who want to pay their last respects, they can do so during the funeral ceremony,” said Teng Chor when contacted earlier today (Wednesday).

Chee Tean died together with fellow shuttler Antonia Meinke of Austria as they were involved in a fatal roac accident in the South of Brno in the Czech Republic.

The former mixed doubles shuttler died on the spot while Antonia and her compatriot, Jenny Ertl, Jenny sustained serious injuries.

However on October 7 (Sunday), Antonia sadly succumbed to her injuries.

The trio were on their way back to Vienna after taking part in the Czech Republic International Challenge.

It is understood that Chee Tean left BAM in February and went to Austria to further his studies while continuing with his badminton career as a professional player and coach over there.
