Dania shines as Bandar Maharani top Purple League Pro-Am

KUALA LUMPUR: Bandar Maharani BC thrashed Butterworth BC 9-1 to win the inaugural Top Glove Purple League Pro-Am event in Putrajaya

Bandar Maharani took the lead through Zachary Sia-Yap Yee, who defeated Tan Yi Han-Goh Jin Wei 10-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 in the mixed doubles.

Men's singles shuttler Tai Chuan Zhe extended Bandar Maharani's lead with an 11-7, 11-10, 11-7 victory over Samuel Lee.

Bandar Maharani sealed the title when Dania Sofea Zaidi defeated Isabel Liau 11-8, 11-6, 11-10 in the women's singles. The champions received RM8,000 for their efforts.

Johor-born Dania said: "I would like to thank Bandar Maharani for giving me the opportunity to participate in this tournament.

"I am motivated to train harder. My dream is to represent the country one day," the 13-year-old said.

Bandar Maharani team manager Eric Chan praised Dania for her outstanding performance.

"Dania was exceptional as she contributed a lot of points for the team in the tournament," said Eric.
