Aaron-Wooi Yik upset world champs to reach China Open final

KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik are through to the final of the China Open.

In the semi-finals on Saturday, Aaron-Wooi Yik upset reigning world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea 21-18, 21-17.

The world No. 6 Malaysians will take on world No. 3 Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang of China next for the crown.

Backed by the home fans, Wei Keng-Wang Chang fought tooth and nail before seeing off world No. 5 Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 21-16, 20-22, 22-20 in the other semi-final.

Since the introduction of the World Tour in 2018, Aaron-Wooi Yik have reached three Super 1000 finals.

However, they have yet to win a World Tour title.
