'On fire' Antonsen captures Indonesia Masters

KUALA LUMPUR: Bagging two badminton titles from two tournaments so far, it has been the perfect start to the year for Denmark's Ander Antonsen.

The world No. 7 bounced back from a game down to beat Canada's Brian Yang 18-21, 21-13, 21-18 today to clinch the Super 500 Indonesia Masters title in Jakarta.

A fortnight ago, the former European champion landed his maiden Super 1000 title when he won the Petronas Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur.

Given his current form, Antonsen is sure to be one of the dark horses to win a medal at the Paris Olympics in July.

In the women's singles final, China's Wang Zhi Yi saw off former world champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-14, 21-13 to win her first title on the circuit since 2019. Zhi Yi's last title was the Dutch Open.

Both the singles winners pocketed US$31,500 (RM150,000) each while the runners-up settled for US$15,960 (RM75,000).
