Zii Jia back in action against Japan at BATC

SHAH ALAM: The national men's squad can breathe a sigh of relief as Lee Zii Jia returns to action in the semi-finals against Japan at the Asian Team Badminton Championships (BATC) in Shah Alam later today.

According to the player list, the world No. 10 will be facing Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the first singles match.

Yesterday, Zii Jia had to sit out during the quarter-final win over Singapore due to a sinus problem.

In his absence, Ng Tze Yong stepped in to face Singapore's Jason Teh but had to withdraw due to a back problem.

Zii Jia's return today will surely boost the morale of his teammates.

Today's action will also feature Leong Jun Hao and Eogene Ewe facing Japan's Koki Watanabe and Kento Momota, respectively.

Former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will take on Akira Koga-Taichi Saito in the first doubles match, while Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze will play against Kenya Mitsuhashi-Hiroki Okamura in the second match.
