Aaron-Wooi Yik fall in Malaysia Masters last eight

KUALA LUMPUR: Former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik's poor run continued.

This time, the duo were shown the exit after losing to South Koreans Jin Yong-Na Sung Seung in the quarter-finals at the Axiata Arena today.

Their best performance at the Malaysian Master was reaching the semi-finals in 2019 and 2022. In 2023, they reached the quarter-finals, and in 2020, they crashed out in the second round.

The Olympic-bound pair now will look to raise their game in the Singapore Open next week and the Indonesian Open from June 4-9.

"In the second and third game, we were too hesitant in our play," said the 27-year-old Aaron.

Meanwhile, Wooi Yik said they will use their upcoming tournaments to improve their performance.

"We still need to improve, we started well but repeated our mistakes. We have two moore tournaments to try again."

Meanwhile, second seeds Ander Skaarup Rasmussen-Kim Astrup of Denmark proved too strong for Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani who were beaten 21-19, 21-17.

The Danish pair will meet Malaysian surprise package Yap Roy King-Wan Arif Junaidi who advanced to the final four stage after beating Denmark's sixth seed Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard 21-18, 14-21, 21-18 in their quarter-final clash.
