Azizul denies his FB post was about Zii Jia

Cyclist Azizulhasni Awang has denied that his recent Facebook post was, in any way, referring to Lee Zii Jia's issue with BAM.

The Olympic silver medallist expressed his disappointment that several newspapers, including NST, had linked his comments to Zii Jia.

In the post, Azizulhasni disclosed that he had turned down a number of potentially lucrative offers to race in other series so that he could focus on the national squad and repay the country's investments in him.

While Azizulhasni never mentioned Zii Jia, the timing of the post had led many to believe it was his reaction to the issue.

"I just want to make it clear that it has nothing to do with Zii Jia and I have nothing against him turning professional," said Azizulhasni yesterday.

"The writing the other day (his post) was about my own experience - which I usually share with my followers - and has nothing to do with anyone else.

"I have not really been following developments (in sports) back home because I have been busy with my family and training here (Melbourne).

"I usually pre-write my articles (for social media) and release them from time to time. It just happened that this article came out on that day."
