Pahang v JDT: Social media frenzy prompts cops to beef up security on Sunday

JOHOR BARU: Police will station 1,124 personnel during the FA Cup second quarter final match between Johor Darul Ta'zim and Pahang this Sunday.

Johor Baru Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulaiman Salleh said in view of the social media frenzy over the Sunday night's match, police will beef up security and monitor the crowd at the Larkin Stadium.

“This is also prompted by some provocative postings by fans that can lead to conflict and trouble," he said today.

He added that those going to the stadium to watch the match must adhere to the safety regulations and standard operation procedures set by the stadium's management and police.

“There must be no explosives. No weapons, No provocation or clashes between the fans. No rally. No illegal assembly before or after the match and no alcohol consumption at the stadium or prior to the start of the game,” Sulaiman said.

He said said action will be taken against those who purposely caused chaos or broke the law during the football match.
