Hazwan wants to end Malaysia's winless drought

BURIRAM: Striker Ahmad Hazwan Bakri is eager to lead Malaysia's attack in tonight's Asian Cup qualifying Group B match against North Korea at I-Mobile Stadium.

He wants to end Malaysia's winless streak.

Malaysia have not won a match since the 3-2 success over Cambodia in the AFF Cup in Yangon 12 months ago.

Hazwan's last match for Malaysia was the 1-1 draw against Hong Kong in Melaka in September.

He did not play the return group match against Hong Kong, where Malaysia lost 2-0 last month, due to injury.

"I am back and eager to play tonight. Football is a team sport, so everyone will have to execute their responsibilities on the pitch well tonight," said Hazwan, who plays for Johor Darul Ta'zim in the Super League.

"It does not matter whether I score a goal as long we record our first win in 12 months.

"We need to create chances and most importantly convert them into goals.

"The match against North Korea offers us a good opportunity to put our qualifying hope back on track," said Hazwan, who plays for Johor Darul Ta'zim in the Super League.

Hazwan has not scored for Malaysia since his brace in the 3-0 win over Timor Leste in an Asian Cup playoff match in June last year.
