ALOR SETAR: The chances of Ramon Marcote making a return to coach Malaysian Super League side Kedah looks bright after the team’s main sponsor, ECK Development Sdn Bhd nominated him as their preferred choice of coach to the FA of Kedah (KFA).
The Red Eagles manager, Datuk Jefferey Low confirmed that ECK Development Sdn Bhd’s director, Puan Seri Ginney Chew wants Marcote to lead the team after listening and considering fans requests.
"Our gracious sponsor Puan Seri (Ginney) wants him (Marcote) and we have to make due consideration. If the management want him then I will accept it as Marcote’s reputation and achievements with Kedah are good.
“So, we are seriously thinking about engaging Marcote’s services especially after our main sponsor made it known to us that they want him,” he said today.
Jefferey, who is also KFA vice president, denied that former Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) coach, Mario Gomez is a preferred choice as publicised in the media since last week, therefore making Marcote the frontrunner to lead the Red Eagles for next season.
Through her facebook account, Ginney recently asked Red Eagles fans for their opinion and feedback regarding the potential hiring of Marcote, and she promised that if she gets 25 thousand ‘likes’, she will work towards persuading KFA to engage the Spanish coach.
After 24 hours of being posted, Ginney’s Facebook post has garnered more than 26,000 ‘likes’, and just before this story’s publication, it has already surpassed 30,000 likes. This goes to prove that Marcote is very popular among Kedah fans who want him to make a return to Kedah.
