Hoping two Selangor players will come back fine after Iceland match

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor coach P. Maniam hopes his new Indonesia signings Evan Dimas and Ilham Udin Armaiyn will not report back injured from today’s international football friendly against Iceland.

Both players are part of the Indonesian team who will face Iceland in Sleman.

“I hope Evan and Ilham will pick up the finer points by playing Iceland. Players who play better teams will normally gain confidence in all aspects.

“But as a coach, I hope they will not pick up injuries. They will report back on Monday,” said Maniam yesterday.

On Selangor’s pre-season progress, Maniam said his players need more time to forge a better understanding.

“Based on the performance in a recent friendly against Terengganu FC II, the players, especially the foreigners still lack the understanding. However, I believe they will get better soon.

“Of course, we have made progress, but we need to be tighter in some aspects,” Maniam added.

Selangor have so far signed four foreigners in Dimas and Ilham along with Brazilian centre-back Willian Pacheco and Spanish striker Rufino Segovia.
