KUALA LUMPUR: Footballer M. Kavishkumar has made a bold move to ply his trade in Japan.
The 21-year-old striker signed a season-long contract with Tokai FC, a club based in Nagoya.
The semi-pro side play in the fifth-tier Aichi Football League.
“When I was offered to join the club, I immediately took it. I chose Japan instead of the offer from the KL President’s Cup team. I was also invited to attend a trial with Premier League side Felda United, but I declined.
“Tokai are a lower league team but they have big dreams. Their target to play in the J-league in 2021.
“They also have an open policy where they will not stop their players from joining J-League teams,” he said.
In 2013, Wan Zack Haikal dan Nazirul Naim Che Hashim were signed by lower-tier club FC Ryukyu but both did not last long.
“I am now waiting for my visa approval. I will head to Japan next month,” he added.
