Cheng Hoe to maintain current squad for Bhutan friendly

KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Tan Cheng Hoe will not make changes to his squad for the friendly against Bhutan on Sunday following their promising performance in the 2-1 defeat to Lebanon in Tuesday's Asian Cup qualifier.

Malaysia are likely to end their winless run since November 2016 in the friendly at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

"For now, I will not beef up the squad with new trainees as there is not much time before the game. I am satisfied with the current squad,” said Cheng Hoe.

Cheng Hoe hopes his charges can build on their performance and secure a win against Bhutan.

"The team played confidently against Lebanon and I hope they can continue the momentum on Sunday.

“However, we cannot take Bhutan lightly and I have reminded the players to give their 100 per cent in the match,” he added.
