Zafuan gets chance to spread his wings

ALOR SETAR: Kedah’s young forward , Zafuan Azeman is in with a chance of playing in the South Korean league (K-League) after getting an invitation for a trial with K3 league club Yangju Citizen FC from May 1-14.

The Red Eagles team manager, Syed Khairul Anuar Syed Abidin said that they have been informed of the matter and hope that the 19-year-old can impress the coach and management of the South Korean division three club during his two week trial.

“Such an opportunity of a trial with a foreign club is rarely achieved by our young players and I hope that Zafuan is able to impress the South Koreans during his two week trial over there.

“In fact, The FA of Kedah (KFA) are prepared to release Zafuan if he is selected with the transfer window in South Korea expected to open sometime in June,” said Khairul Anuar earlier today (Friday).

Zafuan is said to have attracted the club’s attention while playing for the national Under-19 squad during qualifying for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Championship that was held in South Korea last October.

Zafuan managed to get on the scoresheet at the time when he scored the winning goal in Malaysia’s 1-0 over Southeast Asian neighbors Brunei.

"Zafuan’s impressive performances have attracted the attention of Yangju Citizen FC who are interested in getting his services, and this should be a very good example for other young, local players in working hard towards improving their game so that they may have the chance to broaden their horizons as well as their budding careers by being able to play overseas at a higher level,” said Syed.
