KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor coach Muhammad Nazliazmi Nasir intends to bring in new imports to reinforce the team during the second transfer window which began yesterday until June 3.
However, he did not state which foreign players will be dropped to make way for these new players and that all decisions are up to the team management.
“It depends on the management to replace players but as a coach, of course I want to strengthen the team.”
“This is Selangor, so, player selection should contribute to the team’s success. Maybe there are some (foreign players who will be dropped), but we will announce it at a later date,” he said.
Currently, the Red Giants have five imports in their arsenal including Rufino Segovia and Alfonso de la Cruz Calero from Spain, Willian Pachecho (Brazil) and Evan Dimas and Ilham Udin Armaiyn of Indonesia.
Based on current performances, Calero and Ilham’s positions are under threat and they may face the chop.
Despite Selangor’s advancement to the semi-finals of the FA Cup, their league performance is still mediocre with the latest result a 1-1 draw against PKNP last Sunday.
Nazliazmi was disappointed to see the PKNP equalise through a goal by Hafiz Ramdan after they took the lead through Segovia.
