KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor have signed 29-year-old winger, Alvin Fortes, who is said to have impressed Dutch football legend Patrick Kluivert.
Fortes will turn out for the Red Giants for the 2024-2025 M-League season.
Selangor FC said on social media today that a selection panel, including Kluivert, chose two players (including
Fortes) out of 250 players from the Change programme in 2013 to play in England.
"According to Fortes, his football career started to grow after spending five months in England."
Fortes had also made 22 appearances for Thai club Ratchaburi and scored 11 goals.
"Selangor is a big club with great training facilities, and they performed well in the league last season," said Fortes.
Selangor head coach Tan Cheng Hoe said Fortes has the ability to make an impact on both the left and right wings.
"Last season, the squad lacked a pure winger who could contribute to our offensive strength. Having Fortes will allow us to deal with difficulties on either the left or right side," said Cheng Hoe.
