KUALA LUMPUR: The Mokhtar Dahari Academy (MDA) served a surprise by winning the Whitsun MDAUnder-14 Football Championship in Dortmund on Sunday.
Osmera Omaro’s squad thrashed Denmark’s FC Midtjylland 4-0 in the final.
Mohd Nabil Qayyum Zainuddin won the best player award while goalkeeper Zulhilmi Sharani ended his campaign by not conceding a single goal.
Shahril Sobri (first minute), Daniel Edzuan Anuar (fifth), Nabil (21st) and Mohd Khairil Mohd Zain (28th) scored for MDA.
In the semi-finals, the Malaysians defeated SSV Reutlingen 3-0 on penalties.
In the group stage, MDA topped Pool D with 10 points.
