KL hammer Kelantan for fourth win

KUALA LUMPUR: KL recorded their biggest win of the season by thrashing Kelantan 5-1 in a Super League match at the KLFA Stadium on Tuesday.

The match that kicked off an hour later than usual due to the fasting month saw KL once again capitalising on home advantage to secure their fourth victory in the league.

Kelantan paraded their new signing in centre-back Alaeddine Bouslimi but he was given a rude introduction to Malaysian football as his side took a hammering.

It only took KL four minutes to go ahead when Guilherme De Paula headed in Paulo Josue’s corner kick.

The home team doubled their lead just six minutes later.

Josue slammed home a shot following a wonderful back heel from Zhafri Yahya.

But Kelantan reduced the deficit in the 16th minute.

Shafiq Shaharudin ghosted into the box to finish cleanly.

However that didn’t last long as KL quickly found themselves back with a comfortable lead in the 23rd minute when De Paulo held off Cassio Jesus inside the penalty box to easily beat Fikri Che Soh to make it 3-1.

To their credit, the second half saw a bit more fight from Fajer Ibrahim’s side as they started to create chances.

As Kelantan started to push forward, KL benefited from the large gaps left in defence.

Substitute Ashri Chuchu struck KL's fourth of the night with a powerful left foot effort from just inside the penalty box in the 78th minute.

Junior Aparecido completed the rout with their fifth goal, heading in from close range in the 85th minute to seal all three points for KL.

The defeat which is Kelantan's seventh of the season see them remain in the drop zone at 11th spot.
