Kelantan determined to upset mighty JDT

KOTA BARU: Kelantan will go to Larkin Stadium tomorrow with high hopes of pulling off an upset over home team and newly crowned Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

Even though the odds are stacked against the struggling east coast side, Kelantan will go all out for the win despite the fact that JDT are in a celebratory mood after winning their fifth straight league title.

Kelantan team manager, Wan Rakemi Wan Zahari said that they do not have a choice and they must win as they try to salvage what’s left of the season and stay up in the Super League.

According to Rakemi, all eyes will be on the match against JDT as the Southern Tigers will be celebrating being crowned league champions and parading the trophy as soon as the match ends.

"This match will garner a lot of attention because JDT will be celebrating their title win and will also be playing for victory so that they can make their fans who turn out happy.

"However Kelantan’s mission is to win all the remaining matches. Everyone knows of our current position where we are in danger of being relegated, and if we do not win then we won’t be able to move out of the relegation zone.

"I am confident that all the players are fired up and ready to give it their all against JDT. What’s most important is that we are able to score to ensure that we can take all three points,” said Rakemi when contacted here earlier today.

At the same time, Rakemi also confirmed that two of their team’s stalwarts, Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat and Muhamad Syaiful Alias will be fielded against JDT to bolster the team.

"I also hope that our supporters will turn up for us and be our 12th player which is what we need right now, whether we’re playing at home or away, right until the last match of the season,” stressed Rakemi.
