KUALA LUMPUR: FAM Cup's Armed Forces got off to a bright start in the Challenge Cup by overcoming Premier League side Penang 2-0 in Wednesday's Group B match in Batu Kawan.
The win is a huge result for Forces who relied on local players compared to Penang who had three foreign signings in their line-up.
Forces scored through Zaironi Yusof (27th minute) and Shaharudin Shafie (81st).
In another match, Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) edged UiTM 3-2 in Shah Alam.
D. Saarvindran (68th), Amirulhadi Zainal (85th) and S. Kumaahran (90th) netted for JDT II while UiTM responded through Afif Asyraf Zabawi (41st) and Amer Azahar (75th).
