Police gunning for MFL Challenge Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are poised to capture their first trophy in nine years tomorrow.

Armed with a 3-0 first leg advantage, the Cops meet Kuching City in the MFL Challenge Cup final, second leg at the State Stadium.

In the first leg, Police scored through Nabil Lapti, Uche Agba and Amir Saiful Badeli.

Despite their advantage, Police coach Datuk Yunus Alif warned his men not to be over confident.

He said there is still 90 minutes to go.

"We shouldn't take things for granted. This is football and anything can happen, especially playing away.

"Kuching will want to make a comeback and give it everything they have. What's important is for us to be disciplined and know who does what."

The last time Police won a trophy in the M-League was in 2014 - the Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Kuching City coach Aidil Sharin Sahak told his team to forget about the first leg setback.

"We're going to give it everything we've got and go for early goals," he said.

"Nobody expected us to be in the final in the first place. We had to beat big teams like Kedah to get here."
