KL focusing on fixing defence

KUALA LUMPUR: KL coach Yusri Che Lah is paying particular attention to his team's

much maligned defence during pre-season training.

Realising that KL conceded 65 goals last season, Yusri hopes to tighten his team's defensive approach for the new season, which starts in February.

He said KL players need to work on this aspect for the next five weeks in training.

"I only joined KL two weeks ago and the aspect we need to focus on his defence.

"I do not want to see a repeat of last season where the team conceded 65 goals.

"We need to be solid in all departments. I want my midfielders and strikers to play a role when we are defending," said Yusri on KL's official website on Tuesday.

Yusri also stressed on the importance of playing football using a solid pattern of play.

"I am not focusing on tactical yet in training.

"The priority now is to work on weaknesses such as positioning and ball control," he added.

KL avoided demotion by finishing 10th in the Super League last season.
