Watford's Deeney charged over comments made about referee -FA

LONDON: Watford captain Troy Deeney has been charged for his comments about referee David Coote after his side’s 3-3 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League, the English Football Association (FA) said on Thursday.

Deeney had criticised Coote’s performance in post-match interview with the BBC, saying the official had “bottled” a few decisions in a frantic contest at the Vitality Stadium earlier this month.

The striker had also accused Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling of “trying to do” Tom Cleverley in a tackle.

Bournemouth recovered from a two-goal deficit and then levelled again in a six-goal thriller which also saw Deeney score twice for Watford.

Deeney has until 1800 GMT on Jan. 15 to respond to the charge. --Reuters
