KLFA expel and bar nine affiliates from meeting

THE Kuala Lumpur FA’s (KLFA) congress turned out to be heated yesterday following the expulsion of nine affiliates.

The nine affiliates were expelled after a power struggle which led to the postponement of KLFA’s elections last December.

Even the police were called in to provide security, at Tamu Hotel in Kampung Baru, the venue of the congress, yesterday.

The congress hosted 22 of the remaining affiliates together with 21 partners.

“We gave them several chances to explain. The nine were first issued showcause letters which they were supposed to reply within 14 days. But none responded,” said KLFA president Datuk Seri Adnan Md Ikhsan yesterday.

“We, however, still wanted to give them a chance, so we issued a four-day notice (to them), which was handled by an independent body.

“They were invited to explain in person but out of the nine, only one turned up while the rest did not respond.

“Following this, we took action by expelling them. We made this decision after offering them two chances (to explain).

“The nine were not allowed to attend today’s congress. However, they can still appeal.”

The nine affected affiliates are Sime Darby, VI Institution, Bukit Bandaraya, Bank Rakyat, KB Putrajaya, Petaling Putra, Felcra, UniKL and Subadron Academy.

VI Institution president Datuk Irwan Rizal Ali Napiah turned up for the meeting but was escorted to the hotel lobby.

“Our executive committee endorsed the move to expel the nine affiliates. Three more affiliates will be issued showcause letters soon for various offences,” he added.

Adnan also disclosed that KLFA will accept four new members which will be made official soon.

The Sports Commissioner’s Office have instructed KLFA to hold their elections by November.
