FAM nominate Goulon's goal for Puskas Award

THERE could be another Fifa Puskas Award winner after Faiz Subri (2016) from the M-League.

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) nominated Pahang defender Herold Goulon’s goal for the Puskas Award on Wednesday.

Former Blackburn Rovers player Goulon scored a free-kick from his own half in stoppage time in the 3-1 win over Perak in last week’s FA Cup semi-final first leg match in Kuantan.

FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam said the parent body agreed to submit the nomination after receiving support from Pahang FA president Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.

“Pahang have given FAM the green light to submit the goal to FIFA and we have sent the nomination letter and video,” he said after the Asian Eleven programme at Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya on Wednesday.

Former Penang winger Faiz created history by becoming the first Malaysian to receive the Puskas Award in 2016, following his physics-defying free kick goal against Pahang in a Super League match at City Stadium.

He, however, has been without a club this year after failure to attend trials with Penang.
