Japan referees to officiate FA Cup final

MATCH officials from the Land of the Rising Sun will lend their shine to Saturday's FA Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) yesterday confirmed that they have engaged the services of three match officials (a referee and two linesmen) from Japan for the final between Perak and Kedah.

MFL chief executive Kevin Ramalingam, however, said the fourth official will be a Malaysian.

Kevin said the officials were picked by MFL partners - J-League and Japan FA (JFA).

“I can’t comment on whether the match officials are qualified because I myself don’t know how to judge.

"But if they are given the mandate by our partners then surely they are qualified.

“J-League and JFA wouldn't send officials who are not capable of bringing Japan’s good name here. They will be here on Thursday.

MFL also assured that the National Stadium will be in good condition for the final.

"MFL have been monitoring the condition of the pitch since last month.

"The Stadium Board has taken the necessary steps to improve the pitch condition," Kevin added.

Tickets for the FA Cup final will be available from today.
