Fake tickets plague M-League again?

ARE counterfeit tickets making the rounds once again in the M-League?

The Kedah FA (KFA) lodged a police report after receiving several fake tickets from fans on Friday for yesterday’s Malaysia Cup semi-final, first-leg match against Pahang at Darulaman Stadium in Alor Star.

KFA ticketing and gates chairman Jusri Anuar Jamarudin believes that a syndicate is behind the sale of counterfeit tickets.

‘These tickets look different than the ones produced by TicketHotline. The fake tickets were sold at RM15 each for the open terrace seats,’said Jusri yesterday.

‘Luckily, we managed to uncover this as genuine tickets for the open terrace were sold out just hours after our ticket booths opened on Friday.

‘These tickets are fake as they have different serial numbers while the paper quality and the security hologram on them do not tally with the genuine ones.

‘These tickets also had the old Super League and Malaysia Cup logos printed on them.

‘We believe this syndicate is also active in other states. An individual from Kelantan is believed to be the brains behind this syndicate. The authorities have identified this person and there are efforts to detain him.’

Following the discovery, security was tight at all entry points of the venue to check on fake tickets yesterday.

‘Fans with fake tickets should lodge a police report immediately. We have managed to avoid potential overcrowding, which could have put fans in danger, by uncovering this,’he added.
