New boys Adam and Zachry catch Maloney's eyes

KUALA LUMPUR: It may be non-contact training but national Under-19 coach Brad Maloney has more than "eye contact" with newcomers Adam Nadzmi Zamri and Zachry Raiff Ghazie Yeoh.

In their first week of training at Wisma FAM for the AFC Under-19 Championship in Uzbekistan in October, the duo impressed enough to catch the attention of Australian Maloney.

"Among the new ones that have come, two or three new faces have really impressed the coaching staff." said Maloney today.

"There are players like Adam and Zachry and one or two others that have impressed."

He said the addition of the newcomers is good for the team as it will lead to healthy rivalry for places in the team.

"I've maintained that no one is guaranteed a spot in the team, so the new faces that come in have to be better than what we had before."

Maloney said Adam and Zachry had settled down well in his 35-players training team.

"They have a high ability with their techniques, good football quality and there's a lot of things with these guys."

It is also understood that Wan Kuzri Wan Ahmad Kamal will be joining training on Wednesday after his quarantine following his arrival from US last week.
