Sumareh to face legal action for joining Thai club

KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand club Police Tero FC officially unveiled Mohamadou Sumareh as their new signing today.

However, his former club, Pahang are planning to take legal action against the Gambia-born for joining the Thai Premier League side.

Police Tero released a short clip of Sumareh on social media in which the national winger greeted the club's fans.

"Hello to all the Police Tero fans, my name is Mohamadou Sumareh, see you all soon in Bangkok," he said.

Sumareh sparked controversy recently when he stopped training with Pahang. He also did not feature in any of their matches after the Super League restart last month.

Pahang manager Datuk Suffian Awang claimed that the club have hired a lawyer to look into Sumareh's departure.

"All I can say is Sumareh will face legal action soon as he is still contracted with Pahang," said Suffian.

"Sumareh's decision to sign with the Thai club goes against his contract."

He joins fellow national teammate Dominic Tan at Police Tero. The latter has been at the Thai League One side since last year.
