PJ City owner pays tribute to Maradona

QI Group executive chairman Datuk Seri Vijay Eswaran paid tribute to Diego Maradona after the Argentinian legend died on Wednesday.

Vijay said: "The skilful Maradona had exceptional vision and ball control. He also had speed and endurance and could outwit anyone on the pitch.

"The late Mokhtar Dahari had similar characteristics, and it was no surprise that the forward was known as Malaysian Maradona.

"Both used their sudden bursts of speed and powerful swivel kicks to create terror in the hearts of their opponents.

"Both had legs built like tree trunks and were coincidentally number 10s."

Vijay, the owner of Super League side PJ City, also remembers the day Maradona led Argentina to victory at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.

"He single-handedly won the World Cup for Argentina. He either scored or assisted 10 out of the 14 goals recorded by Argentina at the World Cup.

"He will be fondly remembered for scoring that marvellous goal (Goal of the Century) against England.

"Every footballer should emulate his endurance, strength, speed, coordination and flexibility," he added.
