Dollah vows to delay JDT's party

CAN a depleted Sri Pahang delay Johor Darul Ta'zim's (JDT) crowning as Super League champions at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri today?

Coach Dollah Salleh certainly believes it is possible, although he will be without several regulars.

For JDT, a win today will put an end to Kedah catching up and denying them their eighth straight title.

The Red Eagles, who are third with 35 points, are the only team with a realistic chance of chasing JDT as they have five matches in hand.

JDT lead the standings with 48 points while second-place Terengganu (37 points) have only three matches left to play.

Pahang, meanwhile, are one rung above the relegation zone with 17 points from 18 matches.

To avoid any unnecessary pressure, Benjamin Mora's side hope to seal their title early by beating Pahang.

While JDT are likely to field their best players, the Elephants will be without several regulars today.

National midfielder Nor Azam Azih, Muslim Ahmad, Zuhair Aizat Mohd Nazri, Helmi Eliza Elias and Zarif Irfan Hashimuddin have been ruled out due to injuries.

Their French defender, Herold Goulon, will be serving a one-match suspension.

Dollah also faces several injury concerns as midfielders Abdul Malik Mat Ariff and Yakubu Abu Bakar are doubtful.

Dollah hopes his available players will stop JDT from clinching the league title today.

"I have told the players to give their full commitment to the game. I also reminded them to avoid silly mistakes during the match."

"I want the players to fight and stop JDT, who need a win tomorrow to secure the league crown.

"I hope they will focus until the final whistle," said Dollah yesterday.

Striker Bergson da Silva will likely lead JDT's attack today.

The Brazilian, who has scored 20 goals, is also chasing the Golden Boot, with Selangor's Ifedayo Omosuyi in the lead with 22 goals.

Although Da Silva will be the player to watch, Pahang have their own lethal striker in Argentine Manuel Hidalgo to spoil JDT's party today.
