New deadline for Perak FC to settle salary debts

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) have decided to give the financially strapped Perak FC a reprieve by extending the deadline for them to settle their players' wage arrears.

Perak could be kicked out of the Premier League for not paying salaries, amounting to RM934,729.42, to their players and coaching staff, since December last year.

The Seladang, who were docked three points earlier this month, were hit with another six-point deduction last week for failing to pay up.

Perak FC owner, Impact Media & Communication (IMC) Sdn Bhd, are reported to be in discussion with JR Resources and Services Sdn Bhd on the sale of the club.

IMC has requested for a deadline extension to complete the transfer documentation.

MFL's First Instance Body (FIB) have decided to extend the deadline till April 29 for Perak FC to sort out the club's ownership.

"The FIB has decided to allow time for Perak to sort out their negotiation for the wellbeing of their players and officials," MFL said in a statement today.

"However, if Perak still fail to settle the issue before the deadline, the FIB will take further action and will bring up the matter to the MFL board."

MFL chief executive officer Stuart Ramalingam said: "I have been in touch with the prospective new owner to ensure they are aware of what's needed by MFL. We hope any arising issues are settled soon and amicably."
