Syamer enjoys learning from Pan Gon

PETALING JAYA: Thanks to national coach Kim Pan Gon, midfielder Syamer Kutty Abba is learning new things about football.

Syamer is expected to play for Harimau Malaya when they take on minnows Brunei in a friendly at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.

"It is a learning process. We trainees are learning a lot about football and tactics in camp. As a player, I just have to adapt to the new style," said Syamer, who plays for reigning Super League champions Johor Darul Ta'zim.

"But as a team, we will try to implement the new things in matches.

"I think there were some weaknesses in Singapore (during the Tri-Nation Series in March). We have to defend better and work on other elements," added Syamer at Wisma FAM in Kelana yesterday.

He urged his teammates to be more disciplined during matches.

"We have to do better whenever we lose possession. We have been learning a lot from Pan Gon, and I hope we will improve accordingly."

After Brunei, Harimau Malaya will play Hong Kong in another friendly on June 1 ahead of the Asian Cup qualifiers.
