JDT run into Melaka wall

KUALA LUMPUR: Lowly Melaka surprisingly held Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to a 1-1 draw at Hang Jebat Stadium yesterday.

On the eve of the match, the eligibility of Melaka striker Ifedayo Omosuyi has come into question as he is said to be on loan to the Mousedeer from JDT.

However, Melaka later confirmed that Bahrain international Omosuyi is one of their own.

Anyway, Omosuyi was not fielded yesterday, but Melaka proved they were still the equal of mighty JDT.

The Southern Tigers took the lead through Argentine Leandro Velazquez in the 27th minute.

But, Melaka who are ninth in the Super League table, equalised in the 39th minute through Filipino centreback Justin Baas.

The last time Melaka drew with JDT was back in 2017, and the score was 1-1 too.
