Terengganu to face JDT in FA Cup final

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu ended an 11-year wait after beating Selangor 4-2 on penalties at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium yesterday to qualify for the FA Cup final.

The semi-final match had ended 1-1 after extra-time.

Terengganu will play Johor Darul Ta'zim in the final.

The last time the Turtles reached the final was back in 2011 where they lifted the trophy after a 2-1 win over Kelantan.

Terengganu were rewarded for their fighting spirit. Despite trailing from a Selangor goal in the 24th minute by Nor Hakim Hassan, Terengganu got the equaliser in the 28th minute through winger Faisal Halim.

In the first minute of extra-time, Terengganu defender Pape Abdoulaye Diakite missed an easy chance in front of goal.

Selangor goalkeeper Sam Somerville and his Terengganu counterpart Rahadiazli Rahalim played cautiously to take the game into extra time.

Terengganu survived the penalty shootout, thanks to converted kicks by Habib Haroon, Zuasyraf Zulkiefle, Engku Muhammad Nur Shakir Engku Yacob and Shahrul Nizam Ros Hasni.
