Baddrol seals win for Sabah in Borneo derby

KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah claimed the bragging rights over neighbours Sarawak United with a 1-0 win in the Borneo derby at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu today.

Captain Baddrol Bakhtiar scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute.

Sabah remain second in the 12-team Super League standings with 31 points from 14 matches and trail leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) by four points.

At the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi, Negri Sembilan edged bottom side Penang 3-2.

The Deer found themselves in a fix when the Panthers took the lead through Lucas Silva (28th).

However, Negri hit back through Zamri Pin Ramli (35th) and Matheus Alves (59th) for a 2-1 lead.

Penang, however, kept their cool and scored through T. Saravanan (81st). French centre-back Herold Goulon fired the winner for Negri after holding off four Penang defenders in the 85th minute.

At MBPJ Stadium, PJ City's winless run continued when they went down 3-0 to Sri Pahang.

The Elephants scored through Abdul Malik Mat Ariff (27th), Steven Rodriguez (45th) and Manuel Hidalgo (90th) to hand the Pheonix their sixth defeat of the season.
