Youth coach Hassan waiting for new contract offer

KUALA LUMPUR: National Under-19 head coach Hassan Sazali Waras's contract is expiring in December, and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) have yet to decide his future.

Hassan, who also handles Premier League side FAM-NSC Project, said FAM have not offered him a new contract.

Earlier this month, his team failed to qualify for next year's Under-20 Asian Cup through the qualifiers in Mongolia.

They drew 1-1 with Mongolia, defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 and lost 6-2 to South Korea.

"It all depends on the management. If they still need me, I am ready to continue," said Hassan today.

"Although we did not qualify for the Under-20 Asian Cup, the team did well to win the Under-19 AFF Championship.

"We also achieved our target in the Newspaper Cup in Vietnam last month by finishing runners-up."

Hassan's side were edged on penalties by Vietnam in the Newspaper Cup final.

FAM secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman, when contacted, said: "We will have it (Hassan's future) finalised soon.
