KUALA LUMPUR: E. Elavarasan has resigned as the national Under-23 coach.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed this in a statement on Monday.
According to FAM, Elavarasan wants to focus on his job as Harimau Malaya assistant coach.
The move to resign is shocking as Elavarasan had successful led the national youth team to next year's Under-23 Asian Cup through the qualifiers in Chonburi, Thailand, recently.
However, the coach was criticised by fans for his team's poor tactical approach in the qualifiers and urged him to resign.
FAM will name his replacement soon.
